SUP Yoga FAQ's

What Is SUP Yoga?

SUP Yoga combines traditional yoga with stand-up paddleboarding, practiced on a stable board anchored on calm water. The gentle movement of the water adds an extra element of balance, focus, and mindfulness, creating a unique and grounding experience.

No prior paddleboarding or yoga experience is required. SUP Yoga is designed to be approachable, and instructors offer guidance and modifications throughout the session so you can participate at your own comfort level.

Yes. SUP Yoga is beginner-friendly and focuses on slow, intentional movement rather than advanced poses. You’re encouraged to take breaks, modify poses, or simply relax on your board whenever you need.

Yes. Safety is always a priority. Sessions take place on calm water with anchored boards, and participants receive an on-water orientation before class begins. Certified instructors and guides are present to support a safe and enjoyable experience.

Falling in during SUP Yoga is rare, as boards are stable and anchored in calm water. That said, the water is always part of the experience – and that’s okay! If it does happen, getting back on your board is simple, and instructors and guides are nearby to assist if needed.

Wear comfortable clothing that can get wet, quick-dry or moisture-wicking fabrics work best. Bring water, sunscreen, and a towel or change of clothes for after class. Water shoes or secure sandals are optional but recommended for comfort. A hat or sunglasses can also be helpful on sunny days.

Equipment is not automatically included with SUP Yoga sessions. If you need equipment, rentals are available and can be added during booking. You’re also welcome to bring your own board and gear. All participants must have a properly fitted life jacket (PFD) and an anchor setup to participate safely – both are available to rent if needed.

Yes. SUP Yoga sessions are weather- and condition-dependent. If conditions are unsafe due to wind, storms, or other factors, we’ll contact participants to reschedule or provide a refund. Calm conditions help ensure the best experience.

SUP Yoga sessions are led by a certified yoga instructor in partnership with Aqueous SUP. Aqueous SUP provides on-water support, safety oversight, and equipment setup, allowing you to focus on movement, breath, and simply being present on the water.

  • Yes. A properly fitted life jacket (PFD) is legally required for each paddler. If you’re using an inflatable PFD (Type V), it must be worn at all times to meet legal requirements.
  • For SUP Yoga, we require life jackets to be worn while paddling to and from the yoga location. Once boards are anchored and class begins, participants may remove their life jacket.

SUP Yoga sessions include a 60-minute yoga class, along with additional time to paddle to and from our outdoor studio location. We generally plan for about 1.5 hours total on the water to allow for a relaxed pace and a smooth, enjoyable experience on the water.
