Nope! This course is designed for first-time paddlers—no experience necessary. This course is also perfect if you’ve paddled before but want a refresher on core skills.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can get you checked in, go over safety and gear, and make the most of your time on the water. Lessons begin promptly at the scheduled time—late arrivals may miss key instruction or may not be able to participate if the group has already launched.
If you’re bringing your own equipment and need to inflate your board, we recommend arriving at least 30–35 minutes early to ensure you’re fully set up and ready to launch on time.
Dress in layers and wear clothing that can get a little wet—quick-dry or moisture-wicking fabrics work best. Bring water, sunscreen, and a towel or change of clothes for after. Water shoes are recommended for comfort and traction, especially when launching or landing.
We’ll have dry bags available for small personal items, and we’re happy to hold onto your keys during the session to keep them safe and dry.
Falling is part of the learning process! We’ll teach you how to fall safely and get back on your board with confidence. You’ll practice self-rescue techniques in calm water.
Yes, absolutely! You are more than welcome to bring your own gear to the course. In fact, we recommend it as it is good to practice on the gear you will be using. If you are bringing your own board, please make sure to bring your paddle, life jacket, leash, and a whistle.
However, if you don’t have your own equipment yet, no problem—we offer quality rentals (board, paddle, PFD, and leash) that can be added during booking.
For safety and skill progression, our SUP Basic Course is required before taking the SUP Intermediate Course—even if you’ve paddled casually before. This ensures everyone starts with a strong, consistent foundation.
That said, if you have prior experience and think you may already meet the prerequisites, feel free to reach out and we’ll be happy to discuss the best fit for your skill level.
Safety is always our top priority. If conditions are unsafe due to wind, storms, or other factors, we’ll contact you to reschedule or provide a full refund. You can review our full Cancellation Policy for more details.
Join us for a supportive session that will help you feel confident, capable, and ready for more.
